Policies and rules

POLICIES

These are available for viewing in school and are updated as necessary.  You will receive copies of the Behaviour, Pastoral Care, Anti-Bullying and Relationship and Sexuality Policies at the Year 1 meeting

SCHOOL RULES

We have adopted the Golden Rules, which set out the ethos of the school and encourage a positive approach to behaviour.  Many parents have found it useful to adopt the rules at home as a means of reinforcing positive behaviour.

GOLDEN RULES

  • Do be gentle
  • Do be kind and helpful
  • Do work hard
  • Do look after property
  • Do listen to people
  • Do be honest

All pupils should:
  • Remain seated and talk quietly while travelling on school bus.
  • Arrive in school in time for the beginning of morning classes.
  • Cycle to school, only if the cycle is in good working order and a cycle helmet is worn.
  • Remain in school grounds during school hours unless permission is given to leave by the Principal.
  • Be obedient and well mannered.
  • Knock on the door and wait to be addressed when entering rooms.
  • Walk when inside the school buildings.
  • Be responsible for their property.  No toys or mobile telephones should be brought to school.  We cannot accept liability if anything brought to school is lost or stolen.  We have a policy of encouraging children not to bring toy guns or weapons to school.
  • Carry all schoolbooks in a suitable schoolbag.
  • Show respect for all property.
  • Remember that ALL adults should be treated with respect and good manners.
We recognise the need for positive relationships with parents and therefore, pupils should be aware that, occasionally, parents will be informed of examples of good and bad behaviour.  This information will be entered in the child’s homework diary.  Parents are asked to sign these each night.

Parents should note that there is no vehicular entrance to the school after 08.45 each morning until after the last pupil is collected in the afternoon.
